If you feel you may be suffering from some type of memory problems of a non-psychological origin, we suggest you schedule a Neuro-Cognitive Evaluation with Dr. Winer.
This consists of a complete neurological examination as well a neuro-psychological screening examination. This examination takes 2 hours of face-face time as well as time spent to review records, diagnostic options, and treatment perspectives. The fee is $700.00.
In almost all instances, we require patients to have health insurance so as to facilitate the ordering of imaging studies, electroencephalogram (single and prolonged with or without video), evoked potentials and event potential testing, full neuropsychological testing, and blood work (often includes genetic markers and special testing (such as DNA sequencing, brain antibody testing, ApoE Genotype, CSF Phosphorylated-Tau protein and AB42 peptide).
Unfortunately, since the present-day costs of these is outside the realm of what most people can afford without insurance, and since one or more of these studies are almost always needed, Dr. Winer will generally not see a prospective patient who does not have the desire or means to have recommended testing performed.
2. Neurological and Psychological Literature on Screening Test Batteries for Cognitive Impairment
3. Evaluation and Management of Posttraumatic Cognitive
Impairments. Psychiatric Annals. 2010 November 1; 40(11): 540–552.
